Sri Lanka's batting legend Kumar Sangakkara scored his 87th ODI half-century in the second match against India on Thursday, and is now only nine behind Sachin Tendulkar's world record of 96 ODI fifties.
While scoring 61 in the game that the Lankans in the end lost by six wickets, Sangakkara crossed South Africa allrounder Jacques Kallis' record of 86 half-centuries in one-day internationals, with only Tendulkar ahead of him now.
That piece of information leads the stats from the Motera ODI, which saw Amabti Rayudu winning the game for India with his maiden international hundred.
Sangakkara hit his 87th ODI fifty in the second ODI against India and is now only 9 behind Tendulkar's world record of 96 half-centuries in ODIs.
